The new SpaceSaver Compliance Package combines a degausser, hard drive destroyer and a solid-state destroyer into one compact unit complemented with a complete media destruction reporting system.

The heart of the SpaceSaver is a redesigned HD-2 (model HD-2SS) degausser that takes on an upright form factor and showcases a unique vertical media drawer. The HD-2SS offers a new degauss chamber called the Expanded Ellipse™. In general, magnetic fields produced by an electric discharge through a copper or other highly conductive material formed in a coil have a predictable field that has the highest field strength in the center and a lower field strength near the end or edge of the coil. The HD-2SS Expanded Ellipse has 15% more field strength at the edge of the coil as well as an increase in overall field strength.

Connected securely to the new HD-2SS is the venerable PD-5 data destroyer which has the unique capability of destroying up to eight lap top drives or two desktop/server drives at a time. When used with the included SSD-1 solid-state destroyer, the unit destroys a wide variety of flash storage devices such as solid-state drives (SSDs), USB thumb drives, compact flash, and smart phones. Binding all the pieces together is an SSD-Caddy that stores the SSD-1 and SSD-MT media transport sleeves beneath the PD-5.

Storage media that is important enough to require complete erasure and destruction should have audit-worthy records of that erasure and destruction. The SCAN-1 Package consisting of media destruction reporting software and a bar-code scanner is included in the SpaceSaver system.

The SpaceSaver Compliance Package not only has a small footprint, but it is designed for utility. The PD-5’s simple one button push operation is only outdone by the HD-2SS automated erasure cycle. In addition, no special power provisions are needed as the unit plugs into standard wall outlets. Simplicity at its best.
